Quarantine

Well.... Life done hit me upside the head today sadly! Last week my roommate's dad tested positive for COVID a few days after my roommate came back to DC. I then left a couple of days later and while I was done he began to feel bad but not really COVID symptoms. Yesterday before he picked me up from the airport he got a rapid test and it came back negative. This morning when I checked in on him before going into the office he thought he was getting strep throat again as he tends to get it every couple of months.

It was not until I had been at work for 4 hours that he called the Chief of Staff to inform him that he was pretty sure he now had COVID. He realized some time after I had left that he could not smell or taste anything. Naturally, work did not like me being there and I did not blame them so I got out of there as fast as I could. After talking to my doctor back home I was not too concerned about exposure from him. Since I could not go home though I now have a hotel room for the next 12 days. Before I left I swung by to get a COVID test since the Capitol is now a testing site for all staffers and members of congress. The turn out is 6-12 hours so I should get the results either tonight or first thing in the morning.

I am pretty irritated by the situation as I rushed back to DC for work and now I am prevented from going to it. Also, my roommate informed me last about his lack of smell and taste...... kinda awkward when people in the office are asking you questions about how do you not know when you don't know because your roommate did not tell you. Really sucks to find out from other people in the office about what's going on with your roommate. We were also supposed to get the vaccines soon...... but that probably won't happen due to him having it and me being an exposure risk. This is definitely a thumbs down situation from me.... would not recommend.

Stay safe out there everyone!
