My Return Home

By Cje95 | Texas Boy in a DC World | 12 Mar 2021

After spending the previous 12 days in a hotel I was finally able to safely return home. My roommate had tested positive for COVID hours after I had returned to Washington, DC from Texas and so I would not catch it I had to leave my apartment just as quickly as I got there. While the hotel was nice and was only a block away I had left tons of stuff I needed back at my apartment.

An issue emerged that I would have to go to my apartment twice to get things I either needed for work or just daily life. It was a pretty big hassle to have my roommate wipe down everything and lock himself away in his room but he was really good about it. Since I have returned though it is apparent he has not fully recovered. He is a neat freak like myself and there are dishes and leftovers everywhere. Stuff is not fully put away and is kind of just stuck in odd places we do not normally store things.

I am excited though to finally be home. It was an annoyance to not be able to cook for myself and having to go out every night or every other night. I will be able to write more again instead of missing some days when the workload and having to go out just ran me ragged. Last night I fell asleep as soon as I got home from work at 5:30 and went to be at 7:30 since I just could not stay awake.

My internship is about halfway through so now I am starting to look for my first full-time job up here in DC! I am excited to see what opportunities arise and what I will be able to do in the future!
