The question is valid for most governments.
-
I published a LinkedIn article and a video in 2023, which raised questions on the adoption of biometrics authentication technology by technology corporations and governments.
-
The questions are still valid today. The problems are increasing every day.
-
If you don't like to read articles, watch the video(s) embedded below that narrate the subject of whether "Governments Should Face Lawsuits For Violating Biometrics Privacy."

Biometrics is a technology hype that propagates on the Internet.
The big tech corporations supported by the mainstream news media regularly make false propaganda that "biometrics improves security."
-
On the contrary, biometrics is a security-lowering authentication technology.
-
Biometrics authentication doesn't respect citizens' data privacy.
Despite the security-lowering and privacy-violating features of biometrics authentication technology, the world of technology news continually spreads false propaganda on biometrics!
Coinbase uses biometrics and collects biometric data.
-
Like many tech startups, Coinbase embraced the biometrics hype in its authentication and KYC mechanisms.
-
Like many low-informed and under-knowledged business organizations, Coinbase jumped into the trap of biometrics hype.
-
Like Coinbase, several cryptocurrency-based startups boast their adoption of biometrics authentication technology.

Biometrics will give rise to tech as well as judicial problems.

Should governments face lawsuits for violating biometrics privacy?
Most national governments worldwide have already adopted or are on the way to adopting biometrics authentication factors as a default KYC verification for all governance and services.
-
There is plenty of news that details how the entire biometric database of government digital identity projects was leaked/hacked.
Why shouldn't the government regulatory boards involved in using biometrics as a default authentication factor be sued legally for breaking data privacy laws?
-
Coinbase is a private crypto startup, and there are so many startups that faced legal suits for violating privacy and security laws.
Government departments can't go away with their committed crime of collecting biometrics from the citizens.
-
The entire Aadhaar biometric database leaked and was available in the dark market for a small amount of INR. Aadhaar is the Indian government's digital identity project.
All governments must face lawsuits for violating biometrics privacy and security laws.
Consultants and advisers for these governments' failed projects must also be made parties to these legal suits.

My appeal to crypto wallet service providers.
I place my question to all crypto wallet service providers.
-
Are you using or planning to use biometrics in your authentication system?
-
If you have already done it, please be ready to face similar legal battles associated with violating biometrics privacy laws.
-
And, if you haven't adopted biometrics, you have done the right thing.
Never adopt biometrics authentication technology because biometrics lowers security and poses you to facing legal suits for privacy violations.
