Microsoft Exposed 38TB of AI Research Data

By Debesh Choudhury | TechFuture | 30 Sep 2023

People consider Microsoft as a tech titan.

It is well-known that Azure Cloud is Microsoft's top revenue-earning business.

It has recently appeared in the cybersecurity news headline that Microsoft accidentally exposed 38TB of its sensitive AI research team's data, including two employees' workstation data.

These data include a major part of their last three years of AI research work!

  • How did Microsoft expose its precious AI research data?

While publishing a bucket of open-source training data on GitHub, Microsoft's AI research team exposed these 38TB of private data!

  • Earlier, Microsoft acquired (purchased) GitHub a few years ago. Microsoft's staff members should have known how to publish open-source data without losing precious private data.

  • But, Microsoft failed to protect its private data while publishing it on GitHub.

Microsft demonstrated many times its incompetence in dealing with data protection and privacy.

Microsoft is not competent to protect its private data.

  • It is well-known that Microsoft is among the worst software titans cheating global clients with crap software products. (Most people may not agree.)

Now, it has been exposed that Microsoft is one of the novice software companies that doesn't have competent staff members to protect their private and precious data.

  • Microsoft lost 38TB of precious AI training data through the SaS token.

SaS or Software as a Service tokens are used to access the granularity of the Azure Cloud storage accounts data.

How can the clients rely on Microsoft services and products?

  • If Microsoft can't protect its precious private data, how can the clients rely on the services and software products of Microsoft?

I discarded using proprietary software and have used GNU/Linux and open-source software since 1999.

Even Microsoft depends on Linux for its top revenue-earning Azure Cloud business.

Microsoft now loves the "ex-cancer" Linux for its Azure Cloud business gain.

  • Would you reconsider whether it is worth using Mircosoft Windows and other products? Give it a deep thought.

And, when it has been exposed that Microsoft is an incompetent company that couldn't protect its precious AI research training data?

Conclusion

  • Looking at the precious private AI research data leaking by Microsoft, people should think many times before buying Microsoft products and services.

  • People must not go for Microsoft if they want quality software and services.

I strongly recommend that people consider adopting GNU/Linux and open-source software for professional and personal requirements.
