The Different Chronotypes

The Different Chronotypes

Biological Rhythm Like Birds.

The term chronotype refers to our innate tendency to be aroused and to sleep at certain times. Although not thoroughly scientific, this subject has managed to appear on the Nature magazine and makes for a good read.

I am energized by the notion of recognizing my own circadian predispositions through associating (through analogy) with one of the three different types of birds, and for this reason I would suggest anyone to do the same. Below I have provided my own brief recommendations, which I have come up with in summary:

  • Larks
    Remember properly drink water, eat!

  • Hummingbirds
Boost productivity in morning and night!

  • Owls
Remember to take in enough sunlight!

Note that you may not associate with any of these three birds, and I would not find this too odd or a source of worry since I mainly perceive this to be a tool for visualization. There are also many more animals, such as bear, lion, dolphin, all of which have a particular meaning. Perhaps purposefully, I have not provided any definitions; in this way I hope to encourage anyone to discover any meaning according to themselves.
