RollerCoin - A New Era - Season 1 - Perfection

In a blinding flash of hubris on comes the New Era of Rollercoin - Season 1 has begun with the grandiose name "Perfection".

First things first - Feel free to just go to their website directly but if Rollercoin interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

So about two weeks ago I posted that RollerCoin - A New Era was upon us as RollerCoin had put up a screen showing that their latest update was on the way.

Well in a few hours of maintenance just a short while ago their new Era has begun.  Lots of new things are now a part of RollerCoin - Whales and long time players will rejoice, newbies will benefit but given the "competitive" nature of the shared mining pools will probably end up further behind.

Whats New?

1) An Event Pass System

They have introduced a system whereby there are a number of rewards unlockable by completing quests to earn experience.

This is available at a "free" level but to get the most of it there is of course a paid level which gives extremely good rewards.  If you're a RollerCoin whale or just have a lot of money to spare it will definitely be worth it to get the paid pass at the low low cost (dripping sarcasm here!) of RLT149.99

In addition to unlocking the pass I believe for the even lower cost (more sarcasm) of 199RLT you can get all the rewards immediately.  I believe you can buy the pass any time but best to get it early so you have time to earn the experience to maximise the rewards - otherwise you'll have to pay if you are running out of time.

Note the season lasts basically two months (60 days).  There are 20 total levels and rewards for the free pass range from:Racks, Bonus Power, RLT and Trophys(decorations).

The Paid Pass in addition to the free stuff has free miners, and the Exclusive Season Miners (I'll go into these later).

2) Daily Login Bonus and Weekly quests system

Supporting the Event Pass system are two things.  Daily login bonuses (some xp for logging in once per day) and Weekly Quests (complete tasks for XP, complete a whole weeks tasks and you'll get a bonus amount of XP)

Tasks include things like doing X amount of games, Getting X referrals, Going to the Facebook/Twitter/Discords for RollerCoin etc.

Relatively simple tasks though getting a referral every week could be a pain for some. Doing all of the tasks each week gets a bonus 40 Exp.  I dont know how much XP you need for each level except level 1 which is 100 XP.

3) New Shop / Offers

The shop has been upgraded to make it easier to navigate.  In addition they have added Daily Offers - limited amounts of various shop items, including old event miners, which are available to buy, in limited amounts and possibly with a discount to the "retail" price.  Today they had an 8 cell rack, El Monstro and Santa Sleigh on offer, but these were all sold out really really fast!

4) Collections

Event miners/Exclusive miners now have bonus % power attached to them.  As I understand it you only get a bonus for the first of each collectible miner you own (i.e. the bonus doesn't stack with the same miner).  This is an awesome benefit if you've been around for a while and have a lot of the event miners already - Yay for Whales and OldTimers... booo for the newbies!

The bonus appears to be up to about 5% so if you have a lot of different event miners this bonus could stack up quickly.

5) Season Exclusive Miners

There are four exclusive miners this season each with a decent amount of power:

The Glimpse (level 5 of the event) - 50,000 GH/S

The Prisma (Level 10 of the event - 140,000 GH/s

The Aurum (Level 15 of the event - 200,000 GH/s

The Perfection (Level 20 of the event - 400,000 GH/s

As I understand it these are only available if you buy the event pass and if you get all of them you will have an additional 6.5% bonus added to your power).

The way I see it is these will be but a dream for a player like me - maybe if I save up for a future event I'll have a chance at some exclusive miners).

6) Other New Things

They have also added decorative skins for you to upgrade your home - currently just one, "the Office" at a price of 34.99 RLT.  I believe this is cosmetic only so I'm not that interested in it but others may be!

They have also added "Tutorials" which you'll see the first time you log in to the updated RollerCoin - these will be great for new players to help them get started (not so useful if you're already into it though!).

7) Minor Updates

In addition to the big stuff they have also made the following updates:

Game balance updates

2048 Coins: power from the game reduced by -40%

Coin-Match: power from the game reduced by -10%

Dr.Hamster: power from the game increased by +60%

Cryptonoid: power from the game increased by +30%

(I'm not sure any of the reductions were necessary but I'll take the increases)

Minimal DOGE withdrawals were changed:
90 DOGE -> 30 DOGE

(Good if you're into Doge and are mining it).

My Thoughts

I love the base ideas behind the update - Event passes, weekly quests etc all encourage activity.  I also like that activity isn't just the games but other things too.  I dont like the "get a referral" quest task though as I feel that is a bit unfair and will encourage people to make up fake accounts just to get that quest ticked off.

With the high cost of entry for the full event pass I feel that RollerCoin have missed an opportunity to earn more here - they could have set up the pass in smaller increments, maybe a 10-20 RLT amount for each 5 levels of the full pass or something like that to allow it to be accessible to more players.

New Miners are great but I hate that they are locked behind the paid event pass - it all feels like yay for big money players and long time players but sucks to you if you've been playing just a short while!  You basically will have no chance to catch up and I feel that given the competitive nature of the mining pools (you get a % based on your power in each pool) smaller/newer players are going to be pushed into oblivion and they will be dominated by just the older and big players.

To sum up I guess my feeling is YAY - good to have updates and activities to do - BOO - to the powercreep and alienation of the newer/smaller players.

And that's about it - join up with my referral code if you want to help me get my weekly quest done, or go to RollerCoins website directly and sign up!
