This week, Sweat Economy announced that it is in the process of rolling out a feature to its Sweat Wallet app users. This feature, known as "SWEAT as Gas", will allow users of the Sweat Wallet app to perform transactions using Sweat Economy's own token, $SWEAT. Over 600,000 users have access to the feature.

What is Sweat Economy?

Sweat Economy is a move-to-earn project that stems from Sweatcoin, a web2 Health & Fitness app. Its token, $SWEAT, is built on the Near Blockchain.

Ever since its launch in 2022, Sweat Wallet users have had to use NEAR, the Near Blockchain's native token, every time they wanted to make a . However, with the introduction of SWEAT as Gas, which takes advantage of Near Protocol's meta-transactions, users will not have the need to keep NEAR in their wallets in order to perform transactions. This is a new-to-crypto-friendly feature from which many onboarded web2 users will benefit from.

This feature comes along the ability to watch ads to cover the full cost of the transaction, making Sweat Wallet transactions completely free. As of the time of writing, Sweat Economy is testing showing 1 - 3 ads to its users.

What effect will this have on Sweat Economy?

Both Sweat Wallet users and Sweat Economy will mutually benefit from this. While it makes it easier for users to make transactions, the Sweat Economy team has the potential to earn revenue through the difference in the fee collected in their own token from Sweat Wallet users and the fee paid in NEAR to validators. Alternatively, the project will earn ad revenue from those users who choose to watch ads in exchange for free transactions.

Sweat Economy has pledged to burn 50% of all their profits. Ultimately, this could translate into hundreds of thousands of tokens getting burned, which will help the project in their quest to become completely deflationary.
