My First $920 Freelance Client, and the Greatest Plot Twist of the Morning

By Dira wiranti | Sumatra to Web3 | 11 hours ago

For days, my laptop screen has been the silent witness to my growing frustration. I am currently in a phase that almost every beginner freelancer understands all too well: the exhausting hustle of hunting for remote jobs.

I’ve scoured Upwork, LinkedIn, Fiverr, and every freelance site you can name. I’ve sent out dozens of proposals. Refresh, refresh, refresh. But my inbox remained as cold as ice. Not a single application got a bite. I started to wonder if my writing wasn't good enough, or if the platform algorithms simply hated me.

Until finally, a miracle happened last night.

An email popped up from an unknown sender. Without beating around the bush, they asked me to write 10 articles on the topic of Digital Marketing. And the best part? They offered a rate that made my eyes pop: almost $900 with a 3-day deadline!

My heart raced. This was it! My big break! Without wasting a second, I replied to the email brimming with confidence. I accepted the offer and even dared to challenge myself: "I can get these 10 articles done for you in just 24 hours."

The client was highly impressed. They replied enthusiastically and promised an extra $20 bonus if I could actually pull off this "crazy" promise.

Deal locked. Adrenaline spiked. That night, I turned into a typing machine. I researched, strung words together, structured the SEO, and poured every last ounce of my energy into the screen. And sure enough, in exactly one day and one night, those 10 Digital Marketing articles were perfectly completed.

With hands trembling with joy, I emailed the client back, letting them know the work was done and attaching my PayPal address.

A few minutes later, their reply came through. "The payment of $920 has been transferred. Please check your PayPal. Send the documents over immediately."

I opened my PayPal app at lightning speed. And... YES! The $920 was sitting right there on my screen! Tears of joy welled up in my eyes. This was my very first big gig, my biggest paycheck, and the ultimate proof that all my sleepless nights weren't for nothing. I quickly hit the 'Send' button to deliver the articles.

I smiled widely. So widely. Until suddenly...

Poke! Poke! Poke!

A sharp, stabbing pain hit my left cheek. I winced in pain, struggling to open my heavy eyelids. The PayPal screen vanished, replaced by the blinding light of my bedroom.

Standing right in front of my face was my 4-year-old cousin. He was giggling innocently while repeatedly poking my cheek with the tip of a pen.

"Wake up, sis! Wake up!" he yelled cheerfully.

I froze. I stared at the ceiling with empty eyes.

There was no email. There was no client. And the most heartbreaking part: THERE WAS NO $920 IN MY PAYPAL. The entire emotional rollercoaster, the 10 articles I wrote with blood, sweat, and tears, and the thousands of dollars... were all just a beautiful dream, brutally interrupted by a toddler armed with a pen.

What kind of betrayal is this?! Why couldn't he at least wait until I (in my dream) withdrew the money to my local bank account?! Hahaha.

Well, such is the life of a struggling freelance writer. Sometimes our dreams are so huge they literally follow us to sleep. But despite the tragic (and slightly painful) ending, this dream made me realize one thing: I am incredibly ready and hungry for a real, massive opportunity.

So, to wrap up today's "tragic" story: if you (the real you, not the one in my dream) are looking for a dedicated article writer, ghostwriter, or copywriter who can work fast (even capable of writing 10 articles in 24 hours!), please save me from this hallucination.

I am currently open to work for any remote writing jobs. Entrust your projects to me, so I no longer have to just dream about seeing a $920 PayPal balance. Let's make it happen in the real world!

Interested in hiring me? Drop a comment or reach out to me! (I promise the articles will be 100% real, not typed out in my sleep).
