Yesterday(11/29/2024), I discovered a website that claims that it contains world's every single Bitcoin wallet's private key. Does that mean your bitcoin isn't safe? I let you decide that. Also, they say that you don't have to worry as it is almost impossible for someone to actually find a used BTC address. But Is that true? well if you go to their website and play around a bit you will see that it is absolutely almost impossible to find a used BTC wallet by yourself.
But there is a "random" button and when you click on that it shows random wallets rather than showing you a set of addresses that are in a numerical order. Maybe someone could use that and be lucky. but I couldn't find any proof that anyone claiming they were successful in doing that. But when you think about it Why would you talk about it on the internet? right? Is it illegal? Maybe, I don't know. because the information is on the open internet you could argue against it. (I'm not a lawyer by the way)
As humans, it is impossible for us to go through each and every page of that website and find a wallet containing Bitcoin. Nobody wants to do that. It's better to do your current job as it is a sure way to make money and your current job is hopefully is legal and ethical. (just saying) Even though it is impossible for humans to do is it possible for a bot?
Assuming that website really contains all the Private keys of Bitcoin wallets that exist, one can assume that a seasoned programmer (maybe a hacker) could make a bot that scrapes the whole website and only logs Information about wallets that contain Bitcoin. Oh, that's a scary thought. isn't it? According to the Whois database, the domain of that website was registered in 2018. And still, we haven't heard any news about exchange websites cold wallets' Bitcoin going missing.
So I assume it's safe for now. (I'm not a cyber security expert either) Maybe the current technology we have is not enough to perform a task like that. I don't know.
