Do you know there are special groups just talking about orchids?

When you buy an orchid, you have bought more than a flower. Taking care of an orchid is like learning science. Because orchids are not normal plants. They require a lot of care.

1-Orchids are not planted into soil, because in their real habitat which are tropical forests, they do not grow in the soil but on the trees trunks. Thus when you buy an orchid you will notice that their vase is not filled with soil, but with special wood chuckles. 

2-Orchids like light, their roots need to be in a transparent vase with holes, because they need both light and air to grow in a healthy plant

3-There are special ways to water an orchid. The best way recommended is to immerse their pot in tap water for 10 seconds, and then let it drain. You have to be careful to wipe out water from their leaves otherwise they will start to show signs of sickness

4-Orchids do not need to be watered daily, once a week is enough. My problem is what to do when I go on vacation :)

4-Their flowers last for a long time. Once they bloom, their flowers can last for several months. Not all orchids bloom every year, it is important when you purchase an orchid, to select one that has as many flowers or buds as possible. 

5-There are about 25 000-30 000 species of orchids in the world, and they adjust well to different climate and weather

6-Orchids come with a variety of colors and shapes, each one unique. There is a symbolism after each color and variety, thus it is good when you give them as a gift to choose the right color. In general though the symbolism of orchids is elegance, beauty, fertility and love.
