Hacker with different laptops

Storylines

Hi! I'm Iggy, a frontend developer blogging live from wet and humid Queensland (It's currently raining outside). Today is Sunday 9th of January 2022, and we are going to start making a game. Yes! You and I.

I am planning and working to create a blockchain game, and I want to share the experience with all of you and also get some feedback.
In the end, you (users) are the ones that will play, earn tokens and control what happens in it.

First, I just decided to start building something with Cardano in mind (the intro should already gave you a hint!). With, of course, help from you. I still remember the days where Markus Persson (also known as Notch in twitter) developed at Mojang his community led game: Minecraft, and yes he did asked the community for feedback and what did they want to see. Since then I loved that idea.

So here I am, writing some lines about a game that I want to build. For now I will call this project: Storylines.

Let me describe some aspect of the game in different sections:

1. Something about the plot
You are a hacker. Not a very well know one. Probably a ScriptKiddy, but you want to be able to get better, be better. You could be a blackhat or whitehat. I guess the inspiration came from the love of hacking games such as Watchdogs, Deux Ex, and Uplink, and the hacking/developer mentality.

2. NFTs
The use of nfts cards should affect gameplay. Slow someone from hacking X by adding/reinforcing a firewall, adding extra radius to your hackable reach, adding new switches or hacking other places. Also, some NFTs will be equipped by your avatar modifying the skills and stats.

3. Guild/Groups
Get along with other fellow hackers with same mentality. You could be the crypto punks of the bay area in SF or the bored apes of LA. Who knows!

4. Governance
I would love that the game has it own governance and the users vote for things they want to see in the game and rewards them for providing value. (Still this would be done I guess after we have a working prototype)

Still thinking and designing things so... more will come with time.  For now, I would like to see what do you think.

Would you ever play a game like this? What do you want to see in such a game? What should be hyper-cool to see in such a game?

Let me know in the comments below. Let's discuss this! Let's keep the chat open!

Until next time, stay safe!
