Please listen to me. You are a man in position of power, and it is only natural that so many things will be scrambling to get hold of your attention. You have just begun your state visit in this country I have lived in, since I was thirteen, so I can see you are very busy, so busy smiling and waving at a teeming crowd. I am yelling your name as much as my voice can allow. Please can you hear me? I do not think so. There is even the least chance that you will ever take a look in my direction, let alone see me. They say there is a way when there is a will, but I cannot see how true that saying is right now. My will to get to where you are and even tug at you shirt, is as strong as a brick wall, but it cannot get me close to you. Clearly armed stern looking men of huge stature, I can see are your bodyguards, will never let that happen. You just have to hear me. Look in my direction and hear me say what my mind is filled with. Oh! This is useless, but I will go ahead anyway.
I am nobody you would love to know about, for the avoidance of doubts, but know that human beings like you are all now scavengers. Municipal refuse dumps have since become destinations they must make on daily basis. Human beings like you are now rat hunters. Holes of these now unfortunate creatures they must explore with dint of hard labor. They must do all these in order to get scraps of food and rats to feed on, since poverty and hunger have left them without other options. This is how horrible it has become for very many of my country men and women. The last trace of what it means to have economic prosperity in our country must have long vanished from the minds of those that relished it. And for those unfortunate to have been born after our country was prosperous, have known all along, the present calamity she is now.
Tears course down my eyes each day as agony that has taken my fellow citizens prisoner today, get to my hearing from the very lengthy distance that separates us. A very stubborn force of evil that is a man, long captured my fatherland, and has vowed to remain our Lord, filling my people’s mouth with sand, in shameless impunity. I mean you. There you parade your ignorance, distributing penury and playing God, while presiding over our nation’s economic demise. There you go again, scheming to tighten your grip once again, on the throat of the hapless people you rule. Look at your horrendous tool, which is nothing but intimidation that transforms to clamp-downs and total coups against true democracy results and the wind of democratic change.
I tell you this, our Tyrant. No dictator can ever cage the wind of democratic change forever. We have had enough of your years of misrule. Are you going to continue to rig elections until you turn hundred? Why are you so bent on taking us for granted until your last breath? Why have you allowed power to corrupt you so absolutely to madness? No power-drunk ruler can deliver good quality governance. Get wise and realize now that your relevance is below zero. Make your exit, at least to grab a little honor for yourself, because you have none at the moment.
I beg of you to learn that a dictator’s brain cells can never be viable enough to generate sound ideas to stop our dear fatherland from further plunge into chaos and uncertainties. May the cries of our people melt your heart for once, in all parts of the world where you go to spread your hypocrisy. These are humans your anti-people and undemocratic acts are crushing, not animals who nevertheless, do not also deserve your horrendous treatments. These people have a right to protest, criticize you, and demand change. Dissident voices have to flourish. Tolerate the opposition, ‘God’. Think of Gaddafi and his end, think of numerous curses and blames posterity will surely come to heap on your head, and relinquish power now, for progress to see the required enabling environment to thrive.
You owe me a lot, time, because, it is in your passage that it will be revealed if my dear fatherland will again become what it used to be, the once fertile land of our region; lush green and so supportive of the cultivation of many crops. Economic prosperity, peace and stability we would love to pluck as fruits from trees if we can, and not hyperinflation, abject poverty, life-threatening unemployment and overall harrowing hard times which are products of your visionless leadership, laxity and infectious gross incompetence. The good old days must be made to come back. But first of all, our ‘God’, please leave power! And remember Gaddafi, his butchery like a chicken, when Libyans wielded their knives and said enough is enough! Anything can happen! You are not stronger than the people after all.
