Circle ($CRCL) surges 13% on OCC bank approval after cathie wood's $13.7M textbook buy the dip.

Catching the Smart Money Around the Circle $CRCL Stock Surge on OCC Bank Approval and Cathie Wood's Big Buy

The global financial market just got a massive wake up call from some highly precise institutional buying in Circle Internet Group ($CRCL) stock. For us traders who love tracking smart money movements, these moments are clear signals that something huge is happening behind the scenes. This whole excitement started when the US Office of the comptroller of the currency (OCC) gave its final stamp of approval for Circle to establish the circle national trust bank. This federal regulatory approval is a massive deal because it allows circle to fully custody its own USDC reserves and hold digital assets for big institutional clients. This huge fundamental news triggered an instant reaction in the market, sending CRCL stock flying over 13% in pre market trading.

But the most interesting plot twist for traders actually happened just one day before the big news went public. According to leaked portfolio data, cathie wood’s Ark Invest was spotted doing a textbook buy the dip, scooping up 217,896 shares of CRCL worth $13.7 million right at Thursday's closing price of $63.01. At the same time, Ark dumped a chunk of their Robinhood shares. Seeing a massive fund accumulate shares right at the bottom right before a major news release is a classic example of smart money being one step ahead of retail traders.

This is wild because if we look back, CRCL stock has been under heavy pressure lately. Year to date, the stock took a big hit, and major institutions like Goldman Sachs even lowered their price target to $96 with a neutral rating. However, looking at the broader market consensus on Yahoo Finance, the average analyst price target is still sitting pretty high at around $133.71. This tells us that when circle dropped to $63, the market already saw it as heavily undervalued a discount that ark Invest happily took advantage of before the price jumped to $71 in the pre market session.

Technically speaking, the price action on the chart perfectly aligns with these big fundamental moves. On the daily chart, the stock bounced perfectly after hitting a strong support or demand zone between $60.00 and $63.00. This bounce is backed up by the stochastic indicator, which was deep in the oversold territory and is now forming a bullish crossover.

When we drop down to a smaller timeframe like the 1 hour chart, the price action is starting to confirm a potential double bottom reversal pattern. The pre market surge past $71 has successfully broken above the immediate resistance level at $69.94 and pushed the price back above the 50 SMA.

My Opinion

Personally, I see circle securing this OCC approval as a massive game changer. It upgrades them from a standard stablecoin issuer into a fully regulated, national trust bank in the US. This is a massive long term catalyst for institutional USDC adoption.

From a trading perspective, cathie wood buying at $63 was definitely not a lucky guess. That area was a perfect discount zone based on the average analyst target of $133. Since the pre market price has already jumped to around $71, the regular market will likely open with a gap up.

For my fellow traders, my advice is to avoid chasing the market or fomo buying at the open. The best strategy right now is to wait and see, looking for a pullback or a healthy correction back to the support become resistance (SBR) zone around $66.00 to $69.00. If that area holds up, it will give us a much safer, low risk entry with a solid reward potential, targeting a recovery back toward the $93 area.
