FIT WITH THE BLOCKCHAIN

By Simo99 | SPORTS & CRYPTOS | 20 Feb 2021

More and more often we hear about blockchain and we almost always associate this term with cryptocurrencies, new finance, opportunities for managing contracts, commercial agreements, notary deeds and little more. Through this new form of register, open and distributed, however, many other things can be done, some of which could also have an impact on the world of sport.
What is the blockchain
Blockchain, in Italian literally "chain of blocks", is a new and controversial paradigm that could completely redefine the Internet starting from four fundamental pillars: decentralization, transparency, security, immutability.
These first twenty-five years of the Internet have indeed shown its many opportunities, but have also highlighted risks, problems and limits that must be solved and overcome.

Blockchain is therefore a candidate to be a "New Internet", based on values such as sharing, trust, community, participation.

Digital wellness, how to best use technology
That said and in a nutshell, Blockchain can be defined as a process in which several subjects share IT resources (memory, CPU, bandwidth) to make a virtual database, generally public, available to users. A large distributed database that allows you to manage shareable transactions between multiple nodes on a network. A series of blocks that store validated transactions and are related to each other by a Timestamp. Representation of why the Blockchain is inhalable The blocks are linked together, so that every transaction that is initiated on the network is validated by the network itself through the analysis of every single block.
To guarantee the transactions and decentralization there are the participants in the Blockchain, called Nodes, who control and approve all the transactions, creating a network that shares the entire archive of the blockchain on each node (with all the blocks and all the transactions). .

Like so many interconnected nodes, each block is therefore also an archive of all transactions and the entire history of each transaction. These can be modified only with the authorization of the network nodes. This is why transactions are unchangeable.
The scenario on which the Blockchain is breaking
Although it is not intuitive to understand how and how much the Blockchain could change the Internet and our lives, the news tells us today that the younger generations are moving rapidly towards new paths and experiences, increasingly based on the Net and on the possibility of buying or enjoying online of what interests him.
Gone are the days when Jane Fonda's videotapes revolutionized the world of fitness for the first time: between 1982 and 1985 - it seems a century has passed, well before the Internet and social media, in a period still dominated by TV. more than 17 million copies of his aerobics classes have been sold worldwide.

Jane Fonda in one of her historical videos of her The era of the gym on a monthly subscription, with use in binding shifts (eg from 19 to 20 on Tuesdays and Fridays), seems to be dying for many. People who travel, who work without fixed hours, or who have created a space at home to keep fit and who prefer to avoid downtime and travel.
But what will change between the opportunity to sell your services online, as is already happening, and do it instead through platforms based on the Blockchain?

Fit with the Blockchain
As we have seen, Blockchain represents a real paradigm shift. This affects many aspects of the relationship between those who sell something online and the platform that allows them to do so. The same is true for those who buy: the Internet has represented only the initial spark of a change that must come to fruition, and this could happen precisely through the Blockchain. This will offer greater freedom, greater flexibility, greater transparency and security, but above all it will leave in the hands of those who provide courses or services the ownership of what they offer and the possibility of managing their remuneration without intermediaries and without constraints.
In a nutshell, if today the coaches are bound to a physical gym or a virtual space (the platform for providing their online services) to which to pay a fee or retrocede part of the income, the public Blockchain could offer each of them one. free space, almost free and manageable independently.

The fitness Blockchain: new payment systems
Some of the most famous Bitcoins But there is more. The new era in which we are entering will also be based on cryptocurrencies and on "tokens" (tokens) that are created specifically to be exchanged within a specific circuit or sector, at the same time guaranteeing the remuneration of those who work in its field and sustenance of the sector itself, while conveying its values and philosophy.
In simple terms, a cryptocurrency linked to the world of fitness could also represent a valid incentive for well-being and physical fitness, redistributing its value within the circuit according not only to the mere volume of purchases or services provided (as happens today with points cards or loyalty programs), but based on the social value of what each one actually does.

The power of data sharing This will be possible precisely by virtue of the characteristics of the Blockchain, based on sharing, collaboration and trust, rather than just the turnover generated.
Blockchain applied to sport, here's what will change
Like many dynamics triggered by the Internet and perfected over time through new technologies and paradigms, even Blockchain, cryptocurrencies and tokens could soon represent win-win contexts in which everything can really change for the better for everyone. These processes, also favored by the increasingly widespread trend towards dematerialization and the ever-growing impact of the sharing economy, will give sport new opportunities and will also make this "sector" a model capable of sustaining itself on many more pillars than on the economic one , which in this context (at least at an amateur level) has always had a much less marked impact than in other areas and sectors.
The great strength of competition, which nourishes sport and keeps it alive, will find a new and powerful push in the new paradigm of coopetition, sharing and trust, an increasingly popular currency.
