Tonight's game was the scariest moment I've ever seen while watching NFL football. Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin made a tackle during the first quarter and all seemed well until he passed out on the field and began shaking. It looked like a routine tackle at first until the scene unfolded and CPR had to be administered to revive him on the filed during a nationally televised game with an event that no one could ever expect. The strangest thing about it is that it wasn't even the type of play that you'd see such as a hard hit where you hear the pads pop from the collision. I watched the replay several times and the only thing that I could barely see was his head hitting the ground during the tackle which more than likely contributed to him passing out. For some reason, after what is clearly the scariest injury on an NFL field in the history of the game, the NFL wanted the game to continue and it was announced the game would resume? Thankfully the players and coaches of both teams stood together in saying they wouldn't be getting back on the field tonight and I applaud them for their actions after such a traumatic event. I'm sure there will be a lotta ripping the NFL on the sports talk shows tomorrow because the biggest question is why would it even be a question as to whether or not to continue the game at any point. The young men on both sides of the field are standing there trying to process what just happened as much and even more than those of us watching from home and everyone is scared, tearful & deep in prayer for the recovery of Damar Hamlin. Sending prayers for the life of Damar Hamlin and a healthy recovery for him and his family.
