Today is week two of the LEC and the start of the LCS. This is the last split of the LCS with 8 NA teams. In 2025 they are going to an Americas format where there will be a Northern Conference and a Southern Conference. Each conference will have 8 teams. The NC will consist of 6 current LCS teams an LLA team and a Guest Slot. The SC will consist of 6 current CBLOL teams an LLA team and a Guest Slot.

The Guest Slots will be eligible for promotion/relegation. This should be done through a playoff or even a tournament towards the end of the calendar year. Therefore, we could possibly see a new team each year in each conference.

As part of doing this they will consolidate various leagues into an APAC league. Only 5 major regions will exist in professional League of Legends. You will have LCK, LPL, APAC, LEC, Americas. It is unsure of the branding of the Americas league. 

A lot of Brazilians are unhappy with the CBLOL going from 10 teams to 6 and the soft merging of CBLOL and the LCS. They see the LCS as failing while the CBLOL is thriving. Won't they don't seem to understand is the LCS even in its failing state is worth more than a thriving CBLOL. Clearly they want the LCS to survive and succeed. They are hoping to have some of the magic from the CBLOL to transfer to the LCS.

They have also changed the monetization for 2025 and beyond with the reduction of teams. Granted the LCK, LPL, LEC stayed with the same number of teams but the Americas is going to 16 teams instead of 24 and the APAC region is shrinking considerably. With only 5 major regions and no minor regions International play is streamlined. Also each region is moving to a 3 split year to feed the 3 International tournaments.

Next year(2025) I most likely will only watch the NC of the Americas. The rest of this year I plan to continue with the LEC and the LCS. In 2025 I will keep up with the SC of the Americas but I probably won't watch it.
