Iwo Jima was a classic Battlefield 1942 map, where the Japanese and the Americans battled. In Desert Combat the Iraqis take the role of the Japanese as the opposition. The Americans are just modern military instead of the WW2 weapons, planes and armor.
I try it out as an American, gotta be careful taking off as the F-14 Tomcat wings will touch on takeoff and crash the plane. Just something ive learned over years of playing this game. I take the fighter jet and used the machine gun and rockets to take out the spawning enemies. Sometimes if I can get to them quick right at the beginning of the level it can be worth it. Though in the end I crash my fighter jet on the second pass into a tank. I decide to give the ships a try and get in the destroyer. I could not see the island and had trouble figuring out where to shoot. So I moved in driving the ship towards the cost. It was funny seeing all the AI swimming to the coast. The amount of spawned rafts were not enough for hundreds of bots so they took to the ocean and drowned before they could make it. Its important to capture checkpoints as early as possible to my allies can spawn in without trying to make a daring swim. I get very close to the coast and eventually a little too close as I get hung up on a sandbar or something. Though still had the main guns to rain down shells on the enemy. I had to abandon ship as it was about to sink. I guess it takes damage over time when beached. I move up the coast into the inland of the island and take out some enemies with my rocket launcher. I run out of ammo and take them out with my pistol.
