In this post we consider a simple way to save money on liquid laundry detergents by means of using the following DIY liquid laundry detergent.
1. Boil 3 liters of water in a pot on your stove.
2. Add to the pot 60 grams of a grated neutral soap and stir it through until the soap completely dissolved.
3. Add 50 grams of washing soda to the pot and stir it through until the the soda completely dissolved.
4. Turn off heat on the stove and leave the mixture for about 14 hours to cool and condense.
5. Pour the mixture into a plastic container to store it. It will be enough for about 45 medium loads of laundry.
Note that soda may damage aluminum, therefore do not use it in washing machines with aluminum parts. Luckily, most modern washing machines are made of stainless steel.
In addition to saving money, this detergent is great for people with allergies or for washing clothes of newborns.
If you want to have a nice smell then use one of the following options.
Option 1. Instead of a neutral soap use a peppermint (or other smelling) laundry soap.
Option 2. Mix one cup of baking soda, half cup Borax with one cup vinegar or 25 drops of lemon or orange citrus oil and add this mixture to the laundry detergent.
Option 3. Add true essential oil (of your preferred choice) to the laundry detergent.
In some countries, selling such DIY laundry detergents is a very profitable side hustle.
