Ego Finger

Today we discuss the index finger and the importance when it comes to the many representations, meanings and understanding.

We start with the zodiac signs. The finger is broken up into 3 different sections which are separated by the lines that the joints form. I will discuss which crystal to use if you would like to enhance any particular aspect of that finger.

The first at the top represents Aires, the second Taurus and the third Gemini.

Aires:

  • Beginnings, taking Action, Protection.
  • Fire, Hot and Dry, Cardinal
  • The Head
  • Bloodstone, Carnelian or Turquoise can be used as a ring(ensure that the ring has the stone open at the back)
  • Mars rules Aires and the colour is Red

Taurus:

  • Values, Money, Pleasure
  • Earth, Cold and Dry, Fixed
  • Ears, Nose, Throat, Mouth and Tongue
  • Rose Quartz
  • Venus rules Taurus and the colour is Green

Gemini:

  • Communication, Transportation, Commerce
  • Air, Hot and Wet, Mutable
  • Lungs, Shoulders, Arms and Hands
  • Citrine, Emerald
  • Mercury rules Gemini and the colour is Orange

This will give you an idea of the type of rings or jewellery you could use.

The overall index finger is Jupiter. Jupiter has the following characteristics:

Expansion, Growth, Wealth, Popularity, Excess, Overindulgence, Protection and Defence.

  • Colours are Blue and Purple
  • The tarot is The Wheel of Fortune
  • The day is Thursday
  • Amethyst

Now you can think of the different colours and crystals you could use on the index finger.

There are many other subjects I could talk about but will only mention here. There are acupressure points which are used as part of reflexology and acupuncture. There are six primary meridians which can be found along your arms and hands.

There are also mudras which you can perform but that will also be another discussion.

However, what I would like to mention is that the reason I called the index finger the Ego finger is that you should use the thumb to push down the tip of your index finger when meditating. So the bottom of the thumb will be pressing down on the nail part of the index finger.

The index finger is also known as the Ego finger hence the surrendering of the Ego during your meditation practice.
