Is Your Crypto Wallet Secured?

By mummyrio | SIDECHAINNEWS | 5 Aug 2021

If cryptocurrency is safe, why can hackers still break into it? This is a simple question, but the answer is complicated. In general, cryptocurrency wallets are safe. Hackers won't be able to break into your wallet if they don't know your private key? What about the collapse of millions of dollars of assets on cryptocurrency exchanges. You don't have a private key on a crypto exchange. You only have a password and some security.

Hackers are able to break into your money on crypto exchanges by logging into the database of the exchange. Your money on the exchange is not protected by a private key, so it can still be stolen. Meanwhile, your money with your private key will be safe as long as no one else understands the private key. If you feel safe that your crypto assets have been protected by several layers, but you store them on an exchange, you are wrong.

Your private key Your money is the motto for crypto holders. How do hackers break into your private key?

Cloning and phising

Hackers create cloning sites that are similar to the true sites. For example, myetherwallet.com. There are some cloning sites that use the similar name of myeetherwallet.com. Then when hackers get wallet holder email, they will send spam with phising links to cloning sites. They offer free crypto money or send vulnarability of wallet security. They asked wallet holders to enter a seed or private key to a cloning site. When it is done, the hackers get the private key and seed.
