I actually heard this carrot, egg, and coffee bean story before — but like most things, I forgot about it. It wasn’t until recently, during a homily by a priest, that I was reminded of it again. And for some reason, it stuck with me this time.
We all face boiling water moments in life — those tough, stressful seasons that really test you. Some of us come out of it softer… like the carrot. Others come out hardened, guarded… like the egg. But then there’s the coffee bean — it transforms the water itself. It turns the struggle into something new, something better.
It's easier said than done, I know. But maybe next time life turns up the heat, we remind ourselves — we don’t have to crumble, and we don’t have to harden. We can change the whole atmosphere.
I actually turned this reflection into a quick YouTube Short for my channel — feel free to check it out below. It's a simple reminder, but sometimes… that’s exactly what we need. ❤
