Did My Prediction About Meta Already Come True?

It hasn't even been a week since I finished the MyCryptoOutlook2022 article and it looks like Facebook/Meta is already starting to crash and burn.

From the article:

There's been a lot of 'digital ink' spilled all over social media in the past year about Mark Zuckerberg's "metaverse" which, thus far, looks like a sterile 3-D trap that was result of an unholy malt-liquor infused tryst of Roblox and corporate hellhole Zoom meetings. I've been watching lots of 'crypto influencers' gush on and on about how game-changing and revolutionary Meta is but I get the feeling that its a lot like re-hashed V.R. garbage that's been peddled since the mid 90's. I'm not going to bash on it too hard but to me it is shaping up to be another wonderful Facebook failure like Parse, Poke, or Slingshot which have all ended up in the dustbin of tech history. I think what is going to make or break Meta will be how much control big tech exerts over it. If it turns out to be another heavily censored social media playground replete with blocky avatars I don't think anyone is going to bother with it. I've been around long enough (and around the block TWICE) to have seen this "O.M.F.G. this chunky headset is going to help me finally escape my horrible incelexistence through virtual reality" pushed out the door before and it did not impress me then - let alone now. For some reason I can't stop thinking about when Origin pushed out the Ultima Online 3-D client back around 2001 that my friends and I logged into for a whopping three minutes before going back to the 2-D masterpiece. "New" doesn't always mean "Good" and sometimes it is just another tragedy that gets foisted upon you because Corporate doesn't even bother testing it before they are shoving it down your throat because its the "next big thing." Wasn't Facebook supposed to launch a cryptocurrency that was going to revolutionize everything and work with Meta? It looks like that has been swept quietly under the rug much like FB's foray into making an Alexa clone to compete with Amazon.

If you have been paying attention to Twitter you have seen a lot of people shilling Meta extremely hard but I'm not even close to being sold on it.

Alex Becker has been pimping it non-stop with his NeoTokyo project which is essentially Half-Life 2 multiplayer with slick N.F.T.s. The first thing I thought when I saw this pop up in 2021 was "Who plays first-person shooters anymore?" I knew the project would be somewhat successful considering it has one of the biggest "crypto influencers" shilling it, but these bandwagon jumpers such as Ryan Pineda are beyond the pale.

"I spent $334,697 on NFT's to join the Neo Tokyo Metaverse"

Oh. My. God.

Can we already be hitting the top before there are even any decent working products out in the Metaverse? I can't even imagine spending that much on an N.F.T. that looks like it was ripped from a 16-bit Super Nintendo Cyberpunk clone to be used in what amounts to a DOOM rip-off.

Look at this chart porn!

Let's take a look at what others are saying about predicament Zuck has found himself in.

From Bill Blain's MorningPorridge via ZeroHedge:

I’m afraid it’s a very short comment this morning – meetings, meetings, meetings, but the massive overnight collapse in Meta, or Facebook as I’m still thinking it’s called, was a critical moment for markets. It feels like that moment a plook (a zit to our American chums) just popped. It’s not a “supernova” event – like Enron – but it’s a good indication of what’s going to happen as limited shelf-life Tech firms mature..

Meta lost 20% of its value at one point after Mark Zuckerberg broke the cardinal rule of Tech and told the truth: Facebook has lost ground to newer, more hip, cool rivals like Tik Tok. If you want to know where it’s headed, look up Friends Reunited. Gosh…who knew? Competition is real? Tech evolves and old firms get eaten up for lunch by new firms? Really.. WOW.. (I’ve been saying for years… my kids think FB is for Grandparents.. it is.)

The other critical moment was Zuck’s comment it’s difficult to make money “where less data is available to deliver personal ads”.

No Sh*t Sherlock. In a world where it’s being outcompeted, and regulators are establishing the primacy of personal data… Facebook is doomed. Good luck if you buy the story Meta has some special in to the Metaverse..

Things are looking pretty shaky to me in the Metaverse.

However I do believe I have cooked up an awesome fool-proof strategy that's going to fix everything!
