Register on the site second life - you have to choose a name, it doesn't have to be your real name. You must have an e-mail. Remember that you are going to be connected to many people you don't know, so it's good to have an alias and an alternate e-mail too.

Right now, I am creating a new account to show you how one gets inworld and what is possible to do there. We need to agree with the Terms of Service before joining. I am using firestorm, which I prefer.

The first place we land is Learning Island.

In this place, new residents are taught how to walk, jump, fly, and other skills we need inside the "game".

Here is a snapshot of how I got in and how  the Learning Island looks like:

If you are joining second life for the first time, take your time in Learning Island, because you will need to have the skills they teach there afterward.

But I am going to show you another thing.

Let's say I  didn't like this avatar, I want another, can I change?  Yes. Under Avatar ( I believe in second life viewer it's me) tab there is an option - change avatar. So I decided I want to be an angel now, can I? No problem:

Ok, since I know the drill, I'll go faster. I left and landed in a Village.

So now, what to do? Well, read the instructions and one thing I suggest: always add objects - don't wear them unless that's the only option.

I added a hud - something that you will see a lot in Second Life and got out of that place and was sent to a beach. Now I am officially inworld.

Ok, This is a nice place, but from the point of view of someone who just got inworld for the first time,  it's awful. I am completely lost!

 I am going to leave this place the way I know already -  but not because someone explained it to me. So, this is a bad start for someone who is new.

I am going to search someplace where I would like to visit in real life, let's say Venice.

Suddenly I am in Venice, a beautiful sim.

How to search? Click on the magnifying glass and write Venice on the places tab of the search. The search can save you in second life. It's second life's google. All we can find is in there - or at least almost everything.

Now let's get serious and go to a Newcomer Friendly - these are places that are good for someone who just arrived in second life and doesn't know anything about it. There are places where some volunteers help a newcomer for free, also a place where we can find free items to change the look if we want to.

In order to find them, we must click under the world tab - destinations - newcomer friendly.

Let's teleport to London City.

There are more than 30 people here right now, they are speaking in voice, I have to say it makes me a bit shy. I was invited to join the group and accepted - you don't have to accept every invitation you receive. 

Now, I want to know where to go, what's the purpose of the game, what I can do, many things.

As I said in my first post, this is not a real game, because it doesn't have quests. 

You can try going to some other places, chat with people, practice your English if it's not your first language.

You will have to set home somewhere. Since I joined the London Group, I can set home there. That means when I log in second life I can go to the same place - home - every time. Please remember to keep your clothes on. To set home click under the world tab and set home to here. A message will appear on the right corner up - home position set.

Now what?

That's the problem now. I don't have any money to buy anything. I don't know anyone. I am lost again!

This is exactly how the game starts until you find what this is about - a real escape from real life, a place where you can be what you want to be, to fulfill your dreams. Of course, there are many rules and we must follow them. But it is a fantastic journey we are about to start.
