A curiosity that maybe you didn't know

The point indicated by the red arrow is an area of the planet called "Nemo Point"
It is the farthest place from any form of human life on earth. If you ever find yourself there, you must know that at that moment the people closest to you are the astronauts on the International Space Station!

The Nemo point is chosen as the re-entry coordinate for spacecraft destined for destruction. During the journey of "destructive" re-entry into the atmosphere, satellites and other vehicles burn and the incandescent remains are projected into the ocean, in this place far from any emerged land.

Point Nemo is located in the southern part of the Pacific Ocean at 2688 km (1451 nautical miles) from the nearest lands which are: to the north the Island of Ducie (part of the Pitcairn Islands), to the north-east the Motu Island. Nui (small island near Easter Island) and to the south the island Maher (near Siple Island off the Land of Marie Byrd in Antarctica). The oceanic pole of inaccessibility is also known as Nemo point in honor of Captain Nemo, protagonist of the novels by Jules Verne Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and the Mysterious Island.
