Shocking: Coinbase Does Something Smart

Coinbase's Newest Fiat Features

I've used nearly every major American cryptocurrency exchange and have never been a Coinbase enthusiast.

In more ways than many, I believe Binance.US and Kraken are superior CEXs.

However, Coinbase is now my preferred fiat on-ramp and off-ramp for my favorite stable coin: USDC.

New Blockchain Access, Faster Transfers, Fewer Fees

Coinbase now allows users to send and receive USDC not just via the extremely expensive Ethereum blockchain, but now users can withdraw USDC from Coinbase via the Polygon and Solana blockchains for mere pennies, a tiny fraction of what it costs to withdraw USDC from Coinbase via Ethereum.

Coinbase allows USDC to be exchanged for USD instantly at a flat 1:1 ratio with no trading fees.

Coinbase processes my ACH transfers quickly for free, often within the same business day.

Bottom Line

If you want to transfer fiat via USDC to the Solana or Polygon blockchains, Coinbase is the place to do it.

Binance.US is still the best cryptocurrency exchange in terms of trading fees and staking features, but Coinbase has its benefits, too.

I'll try to make less disparaging jokes about them in the future 😂
