Let's take a look at play-to-earn games that once had a large market but are now struggling to stay afloat.

 
As a beginner, it's so hard to believe that people are earning real money by playing online video games, whereas I'm still stuck and suffering to earn cash in real life. Play-to-earn games are something like that, where players join and create wealth. At first, when I heard about them, I thought they were just scams or gimmicks, but later I understood that they have their own token and ecosystem that creates value in crypto, like Axis Infinity, which are some of the games that piqued my interest in them. At that time, I didn't have enough money to get access to play this game, but now I don't even want to play.

 
Play to Earn was supposed to be revolutionary, but now no one is even talking about them back at the bull run in late 2021 and early 2022. These are some of the top topics: Axis Infinity, Sandbox, and more They have reached more than 30.1 million users, but now they are at 6.2 million, a massive decline in just the last 6 months. There are lots of reasons for that funding: the ecosystem, money flow, and more.

The major problem for the downfall of play-to-earn games.

1.Money is always leaving the game.

In the beginning, the game goes smoothly as many players are investing, but after the inflow of cash has reached a limit, the money starts to drain out of the ecosystem through the withdrawals of the players.

2.Focus mainly on Earning. 

One of the core problems with these games is that they never provide a better gaming experience to play, as they focus more on earning than engaging and entertaining gameplay.

3.Funding Model. 

The funding model those types of games are using is only sufficient for 3–4 months, mainly spent on developing the game rather than a regular game, which almost needs 1-2 years to develop and stand out in the market, but those types of games indirectly start creating an environment of tokens and NFTs.

What is the future of P2E games?

In my opinion, this is not the right time for these types of games, as they need a much more developed Web 3.0 for a sustainable run and further development.

The market is evolving, but these types of games don't want to evolve; they just create hype in the market at the launch time, grab lots of funding, and neglect the other motives.
