The earliest memories I have of video games are arcades with those bright neon space carpets, particularly playing Burger Time endlessly and getting salted to a dreadful game over. Then there was the time my older brother got a Sega Genesis that came with a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Then there were the constant battles with my mom and dad over homework, while my younger self just wanted to game -- a tale as old as time that continues with my own son!
What my older self has become interested in is the time value of video games. No, I'm not referring to the time spent actually playing but how the value of collectable titles and items goes up over time. It seems odd to think, but as with many things, "one man's trash is another man's treasure." It's too bad my stack of shitcoins can't be. Perhaps one day! If you have several -100% coins, you know what I'm talking about!
Anyway, let's take this box for a Nintendo Gameboy Color. It has been hoarded throughout the years by a collector, only to be lost to time in a box. Years later and with a lot of extra dust, it has been rediscovered. Though long separated from its system it once housed, it's still a sought-after item. So much so that a premium market exists for it.

Though this buying and selling is nothing new, the market for vintage video game items has ballooned over the years, driven by demand and increased scarcity (sound familiar?)

eBay is the spot for classic game collecting. It's great to add to your collection, your stack. Like crypto, and any other collectable for that matter, hodling usually beats trading! Happy collecting!
