There was a storm brewing

There was severe weather brewing over head earlier today. I simply stood in amazement and looked up at the sky as I saw the clouds rotating in a way that I had never really paid attention to before. Perhaps it was just being in the right place at the right time. Fortunately, it was not a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

My mind began to drift to the opening scene of The Wizard of Oz and the famous tornado scene. As I was gazing up in the sky outside of a grocery store, I saw someone ride by on a bicycle. It was just one of those funny things really. A few seconds earlier, I had just been thinking of the classic movie and then of course after seeing the bicyclist, I thought to myself: "there's the wicked witch, there really is going to be a tornado touchdown right here."

There wasn't. After a few minutes of intense rain, the storm passed with no destructive weather happening, short of a few fallen tree branches. For some reason, the whole incident made me think about luck. Some people say they're just unlucky and that good things never happen to them. I don't think that's true. I think luck is really just how one's perception of the world is. Moreover, positive moods radiate good luck and negative moods radiates bad luck.

Is there really luck at all? Is the world just a huge series of predetermined events yet to happen? Or do things happen because of the actions we take? Again, it's all a matter of your perception. I believe we all create our own realities, certainly in our minds. I'm glad I took the time to look up at the sky today and allowed myself to be hypnotized by the wonder of weather.
