Video games have always been a passion of mine. From renting Mortal Kombat for Sega Genesis from Blockbuster on a Friday night to discovering my older brother's Gameboy stash while snooping around in his closet, I have a lot of good memories attached to electronic fun.
Nowadays, retro games are getting harder and harder to find for a reasonable price. The classic video game market seems to have grown exponentially in recent years, driven by nostalgia and social media. In fact, in 2025 the retro game market grew into a nearly $6 billion industry. For me, the hunt remains an, entertaining, and sometimes frustrating, part of the gaming hobby.
This summer, our collecting journey continues! We have been finding a lot of Nintendo Wii games recently. The Wii, which turns 20 years old in 2026, dazzled me when it first came out with its revolutionary motion controls brought to a home console. The most recent spot we searched was a local thrift store. I think it was a pretty good haul!

Each game was $4.99 so it seemed like we got a good deal. Wii Play was the first disc to go for a spin. I love the shooting gallery style mini game, as it reminds me of Duck Hunt for the NES.
