Good evening fellow P0x'ers. Perhaps you've tried your hand at crypto mining, perhaps not. If you've ever messed around with a mining pool, you know that the fees can sometimes be ridiculous. Or maybe you've been frustrated by the unrealistic payout thresholds -- let's be real here: most home miners with hashing power less than 20 Th/s aren't going to mine 0.01 BTC any time soon.
I've been exploring different mining pools recently myself, finding a few gems and a few stinkers. One has stuck out to me as unique; that being PowerPool. I mean, with a name like that, how can you go wrong? But really, this one was so simple to setup and has an excellent payout system. For starters, PowerPool stands apart from the crowd because they pay using a very different reward method than other mining pools. They use a RTPPS (real time pay per share), meaning you get rewarded immediately for the shares you submit.
Now, just what algorithm can you contribute your hashing power toward?
- SHA-256
- Scrypt
- Eaglesong
- X11
- KHeavyHash
- ETCHash
PowerPool is currently used by nearly 13k users, so it's still relatively small compared to other pools but is growing every day. You will need an ASIC miner, and you can download the PowerPool app for Android or iOS to track your mining activity. What I like about it is the level of detail you can track; perfect for those who are into meticulous record keeping.
All coins that the pool mines are converted to Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Solana, Quai, USDC and others. You can select as many different coins that you would like to be paid out in and set a percentage. For example, if you wanted to get paid in BTC, BCH, LTC, and SOL, you could break down your daily payout between the four:
- BTC 25%
- BCH 25%
- LTC 25%
- SOL 25%
PowerPool provides low latency servers worldwide for greatest efficiency. They use a proprietary "profit-switching technology" to maximize earnings for miners. The pool has paid out over $37 million USD since its inception.
