Can We Stop With the "Pump" Month Names?

What it is fellow P0x'ers -- greetings to everyone. Please forgive me for this, but I just have to let off some steam. This post will come across more as a rant. So, with that being said, let me just get straight to the point. Can we please stop with these goofy "pump" month names? Uptober? Really?

How did October actually go?

It doesn't really look pretty, chart-wise anyway. But let's take a few things into consideration:

  • The price of BTC was hovering around $114,000 on October 1st
  • Bitcoin set a new all-time high of $126,210.50 on October 6th
  • BTC fell from its fresh all-time high to as low as $104k in just a matter of weeks, following uncertainty over potential U.S. interest rate cuts

So, what now? Well, the historic streak of October being an "up month" for Bitcoin was broken. Not since 2018 had we seen a red month in October. Well, now I'm seeing calls for "Moonvember," with folks pointing to past performances being an indicator that November will be a winning month. Take a gander at what's being said now:

Once again, I ask: can we just please stop with the "pump month" memes? I get it; we all want to breathe in some hopium from time to time. I consider myself to be a long-term Bitcoin bull, so the price fluctuations don't really mess with me much any more. Buy and hodl is my motto (and, occasionally, spend...it is magic internet money after all).

I understand we like to predict, based on past performances. Bitcoin is not a security, as defined by the SEC. However, I think it's important to note that "past performance is no guarantee of future results." I wouldn't advise anyone to look at prior month performances of Bitcoin as any kind of indicator as to how it will perform in any given future month. Quite frankly, I'm just sick of these goofy bullish names we are assigning to any given month. What's next? GO-vember? CRANK-uary? ROCKET-uary? It's almost like how, here in the US, every day has become "National ________ Day." Enough is enough. Just watch the chart. Or, maybe just HODL it, and don't worry about monthly ups or downs. I don't know; it's your crypto, do with it as you will. Just don't tell me that November is guaranteed to be a green month just because it has been more often than not in prior years.

Thank you for reading my rant, if you've made it thus far.
