Yes that's right! The developers of the fan favorite game Arsenal has just dropped another FPS title but only for a limited time; the game is called ENFORCEMENT, and it is currently in Early Access for only one week, as of writing there is only 4 days left to jump in on the action. The playtesting period lies between February 18th and the 25th.
Lets talk about some of the gameplay.
This game is currently in Early Access which means that its expected to be unfinished, but I will give my honest opinion on everything going forward despite this, just make sure you keep in mind that this is an early preview of the game and you can expect a lot of the gameplay to change entirely.
Gunplay:
The gunplay in this game isn't anything too different from other popular titles, but it does have its few differences. One thing I really love about this game is the satisfying kill sound effects, it tickles my brain in a way I can't explain. In my opinion, it is super important for game developers to nail the sound effects of killing in their game, as it makes the urge to get that frag just so much higher which keeps players playing.
Another thing to note before I get into other details is that, the walls in this game are PAPER THIN, you can basically spray people through walls with 0 repercussion. This reminds me of the radar strategy from a different game called Gunfight Arena where you could just mow people down through walls with the ESP that the game provides through a kill streak.
Anyways, lets talk about some of the other game mechanics!
Sprinting!
You cannot sprint and reload at the same time in this game! I know this doesn't sound that bad, but you don't know how many times I've accidentally cancelled a reload because I brush up against the shift key. It's gotten me killed a lot of times but you do get used to it pretty fast; another weird thing about it is that it cancels your sprint even if you're actively holding down the shift key. Just a little strange.
Another thing I really dislike about the sprinting system is that its not a toggle system, the way it currently works is that you need to hold down the shift key the entire time you want to sprint. Not to mention, you're going to want to be sprinting for about 90% of the game, especially since finding enemy players can be hard which I'll talk about later on.
Weapons!
There are a LOT of weapons to choose from which was a pleasant surprise when first launching the game, honestly it is quite good to see considering that this game is in early access and means we can most likely look forward to a lot more weapon additions in the future. Currently, there are 7 classes of weapons available to choose from:
- Assault Rifles: 8 weapons available.
- Battle Rifles: 4 weapons available.
- Submachine Guns: 7 weapons available.
- Shotguns: 5 weapons available.
- Machine Guns: 4 weapons available.
- Sniper Rifles: 6 weapons available.
- Special: with only one "weapon" available called the riot shield.
Yes there are definitely a lot of weapons available right off the bat equating to 35 guns! As a Valorant player, this is awesome to see. (we have like 10 guns)
Customization!
There is SO MUCH customization right off the get go, I mean just look at how many different kinds of attachments you can customize!

There are so many different options, its really good to see even though the game is still in early access. Just look at all these weapon scopes:

Special Weapons:
there are actually some special weapons that ROLVe has given us access to, such as the throwing knife! (technically its a lethal but I'm still including it in this section.) Here's a post by ROLV'e demonstrating the throwing knife:
another "weapon" called the Riot Shield which is a bullet proof shield that allows you to melee users once you get close. I can see this being overpowered, but it seems to be easily counter-able by utilizing explosives as demo'd in this post here:
There are plenty of other things you can pick from as well, but I think we should move onto other things such as the exciting score streaks!
Grenades:
I just wanted to mention how interesting grenades work in this game, you can actually throw grenades while being scoped into your weapon which I've demonstrated here:

This creates interesting opportunity to lay down suppressing fire while throwing your grenade, very cool ROLVe!
Score-streaks!
ENFORCEMENT introduces some interesting gameplay by involving the use of score streaks which can be obtained by getting kill streaks in-game. There are currently 3 different categories of score streaks inside the game, 2 in each category making a total of 6 different score streaks that you can pick and choose from. Two of my favorite score streaks you can use is the IMS which stands for Intelligent Munitions Systems, and the mosquito missile. The IMS device launches homing missiles whenever a player is detected near it. While the mosquito missile is a more or less a flying booby trap. Below are teasers of both:
and the mosquito drone:
Map's:
The game's maps are really awful in my opinion, they are confusing and very annoying to try to get around. Not to mention it's hard to find players because of how difficult it is to traverse some of these maps. That is however, until you learn where enemies spawn..
THIS GAME CANNOT FIGURE OUT SPAWNS:
I CANNOT tell you how frustrating it is to get shredded instantly upon spawning in through the walls because of some LMG user abusing the bullet penetration mechanics in this game. Not to mention that there is literally 0 spawn protection. This makes for a really frustrating experience which leads me to the next section of this post.
Criticism's:
The game no doubt has its issues, but it is important to remember the fact that the game is still in early access and this is simply a playtest. A big part of the criticism behind the game is how big ROLVe is; ROLVe is such a big studio with its hit title Arsenal amassing a massive player base, here's a look at Arsenals total visits:

Looking at this, its pretty understandable that players are frustrated. Including big youtubers such as Corny flaming the game giving it some pretty bad publicity. "This game doesn't do anything, there is nothing special about this game." Corny states, talking about how the game isn't really that unique in any way, and that the game doesn't offer really any new mechanics unseen in other popular FPS Roblox games such as RIOTFALL. Another thing he notes is the poor texturing for the ABR's scope (the ABR is recognized by most as an AUG). Here you can see it's just a simple circle for a reticle:

I don't see much issue with the scope, but you can watch the rest of his first impressions from his gameplay here.
Overall,
I quite enjoy the game, but it definitely has a long way to go before it becomes anything special. I also really love all the different weapons and customization that the game offers, introducing a magnitude of different playstyles you can choose from. I think that despite the games current state and its criticism, it is very enjoyable to play and I see myself sinking a lot of hours into this game on release. As long as they can figure out the simple things such as the spawn mechanics (its embarrassing that this is a problem, c'mon ROLVe.) and the awful maps, I think that this game might turn out actually enjoyable, and very fun!
