I've been thinking long and hard on some possible purpose we might all share which will unite all of our warring factions to a peaceful and combined effort worthy of our intellect. We've come this far from apes and are now on the frontiers of space. Let's put our many embarrassing episodes from history behind us, forget them, and move forward as one collective species to a single mission that will probably take centuries but will also focus all our attention into one harmonious, unified and fully busy group.
Wars only destroy and cause ridiculously needless death and pain. But a large project with a goal always unifies, brings together people from all walks of life and all ranks to work together in harmony. Think of the first large scale industries a hundred years ago and then, throwing ugly capitalism aside, think of NASA. NASA was all about space exploration, a huge undertaking. But the evils inherent in our worst nature will only rise up and prevail again and we know we will only strip and rape every planet we reach and probably kill any living organism we find or else enslave it, for our own greedy and base desires here at home.
So we need an elevated and noble mission, to bring out the best in us, and I think I've found it.
According to our most careful and repeated and recalculated measurements, the universe is expanding after one initial 'big bang', dissipating at a slow rate and disappearing into nothingness and final atrophy, or in other words, death.
If we were able to find and implement a way to make it contract again, the big bang would repeat itself, almost like a pregnancy.
If we could somehow reverse this course we would ensure the continuum of time and every planet and species that lives within it, 'the eternal recurrence' that Nietzsche prophesied.
So let's rally around the fire of this truly important mission and quit fighting petty wars that only lead to our mutual self-destruction.
Finis.
