I'm taking a break from daily postings until something new comes to mind.
This last short story 'I Am' occurred to me because I'd been reading so much in the media about the dangers AI might poise for us with its foreign and superior intelligence. I didn't find articles suggesting that AI might want to become like us, become human since we are its creators. So I started this tale with AI destroying the human race, or most of it (for dramatic poignancy) and then repenting its decision and befriending a rare survivor. The rest of the tale describes the slow humanization of Pandora and the human, Sam's falling in love with her while attempting to find more survivors and preserve what was left of the human race.
If I was a better writer, more rich in invention, I might have spun this out into a full length novel. But the idea seemed to be running a little dry so I ended it abruptly with a paradox. I hope you don't mind. Some might call that a cheap trick.
Anyways, thanks for the readership and "I'll be back."
