Alcohol Consumption Won't Save Your Crypto Portfolio

Alcohol Consumption Won't Save Your Crypto Portfolio

As the crypto market continues to experience ups and downs, some investors have turned to a rather unorthodox strategy to cope with the stress: alcohol consumption. However, experts (and I) are warning that this might not be the best idea, as excessive drinking won't save your crypto portfolio. Let's look at numbers.

How much?

According to official guidelines, healthy adults are recommended to limit their alcohol intake to a certain amount per day, per week, and on a single occasion. For men, this means no more than two units of alcohol per day and no more than fourteen units per week. Women, on the other hand, should stick to no more than one unit of alcohol per day and no more than seven units per week.

So, what does this mean for your crypto investments? Well, let's do the math. A single unit of alcohol is equivalent to a small glass of wine, half a bottle of beer, or one shot of spirits. This means that men can consume a maximum of 2 dcl of wine, half a liter of beer, or two shots of spirits per day without exceeding the recommended limit. Women, on the other hand, should stick to no more than 1 dcl of wine, half a bottle of beer, or one shot of spirits per day.

Per occasion?

Now, let's say you're having a particularly rough day in the crypto market and decide to drown your sorrows with a drink or two. If you're a man, you can consume up to five units of alcohol on a single occasion without the risk of intoxication. That's equivalent to half a liter of wine, two and a half bottles of beer, or 1.5 dcl of spirits. For women, the recommended limit is three units of alcohol, which is equivalent to 3 dcl of wine, one and a half bottles of beer, or 1 dcl of spirits.

Sum-up

While drinking in moderation is generally considered safe for healthy adults, it's important to remember that excessive alcohol consumption can have serious health consequences. Moreover, relying on alcohol to cope with stress or anxiety is not a sustainable strategy for managing your investments.

So, next time you're tempted to reach for a drink after a bad day in the crypto market, remember that alcohol consumption won't save your portfolio. Instead, consider taking a break, talking to a friend or a financial advisor, or finding a healthier way to manage stress. Your liver (and your wallet) will thank you.
