Uncharted
By Shelley M. Latreille

My mind wanders into uncharted waters
and my fears come slicing through.
New thoughts form from brain particles found
floating aimlessly in water logged caverns.
Unable to comprehend,
I reboot my mind and begin again.
I rid myself of defective thoughts and
they shatter like glass, spreading proudly like
blood rushing freely from an open wound.
I emerge from the darkness to face the light,
such as a resilient vampire would do.
My confidence shows through like a body falling off
of a highway overpass into oncoming traffic,
exploding like confetti onto everything that is nearby.
I am ready for the next phase of existence.
