Geometric Echo
By Shelley M. Latreille
The mysteries of life glow brightly green tonight.
Your act will not restore your comprehension.
Your aim is slightly off.
You will not learn secrets without tending your fears.
Friends observing from your memories transform into enemies.
You watch as they attach your thoughts to
colorful butterflies who flutter away with them.
Flies move in and lay eggs in your brain,
lodging them too deep for you to extrapolate.
The larva emerge and create a new colony inside your mind.
Seasons change and all that is left behind is your geometric echo.
