Dismantled
By Shelley M. Latreille

Your sunburned dreams haunt my aneurysm like a heard of vengeful Vikings.
They hurriedly course through my veins and glow with a silent resonance.
Your cataracts impede my visions of the future.
I cast my shadow at your heart to throw off your equilibrium
and to deceive your thoughts.
I slowly stab your eye, through its brightly incandescent iris
to rid the world of your menace and to seize the appropriate
version of yesterday, thereby permitting tomorrow to erupt with propulsion.
