Allegory

By Shelley M. Latreille

Figure in Old Mill Park

Mr. Death followed Mrs. Comedy through the slays of life.
She was always running merrily away from him.
He wanted to strike her down and eat her deviant brain.
She kicked him in the head and pounced gracefully upon his liver.
He bit her ear and fled in fear, his dignity uplifted.
She beat him down, around and around, merrily singing “Ho-hum.”
He called her scum and drank some rum, fleeing hurriedly away.
