We live in an increasingly connected world, and this is already widely recognized. We are at the point where the barrier between the real and virtual worlds is decreasing, because mixed reality already exists, which, as the name suggests, mixes the two on a single screen.

Therefore, considering a complete ban on phones at home would be a huge step backwards in this path of technological development that humanity has been following for some years. However, this does not mean that it is not valid to consider the benefits of not using the phone during certain moments of the day, seeking a balance in some way, as human beings are not yet adapted to this new reality, and miss out on some of the benefits of time away from the screen. Come explore a little more about these topics now!

Let's start by analyzing whether the most extreme scenario, in the sense of living without a phone completely at home, would be possible or not. The answer is it depends, let's analyze the first case. For a person who already has their life sorted out in a financial sense, they have no worries about someone calling for help in an emergency, in which case it would be possible not to use the phone for absolutely anything at home.

However, the example above is the scenario for only a minority of the population. In general, people use their phones for both leisure and work. The first use would be for entertainment, being used in the case of consuming content to watch videos, music, films and series. Furthermore, it can become a tool for work, being used to stay informed of the news, access meetings, receive customer orders and important notifications.

These are just some of the functions it can perform. Nowadays we are very dependent, notifications and messages arrive all the time, making it impossible to be without an active phone at home. But that doesn't mean that you can't stay a little less, seeking a balance and reaping both benefits. So, let's talk about how it would be good to use your phone less.

The first benefit comes from human history itself. Human beings are capable of adapting, but the recent evolution of technology has been so rapid and with such huge leaps in performance that it ends up becoming difficult to keep up, generating some symptoms such as social isolation, with people nearby communicating via cell phone, anxiety about when the next message will come, among others. Conscious use, for example, setting aside a specific time of the day to check messages, is better than constantly monitoring them.

Another interesting point is silence. For the brain, silence is an opportunity to organize your thoughts, let your creativity flow and you can solve problems in a simple way, using the fastest and most efficient processing unit that is our brain. The issue is that if you are always focusing on digital content on your cell phone, you don't give your brain opportunities to process the information received. Additionally, avoiding the use of digital screens before bed helps you get better sleep. Therefore, balance, finding the best moments for each cell phone use is the best.
