All silver coins sound if they are made of silver and the ping test is one of the test used to recognize real silver coins from false ones. Every kind of silver coin has own sound depending on the shape, the weight and the silver content.
Metal coins do not sound. They make a sort of “clang” noise.

Crypto asset is only made of bits: a bunch of 0s and 1s stored in some computers (in blocks), somewhere in the world.
What is their sound if exist?
Audification and Sonification are very interesting (in my opinion) field of research. The goal is to transform a large mass of data in something audible, that can be heard and listened by people.
Take a very huge group of data too big to be analyzed in short time. The data are almost all similar each other: there is a sort of noise trend caused by the fact that the values do not change so much from a mean value. Only some records show anomalous value, but where they are? How can we find them in a group of thousands of numbers similar each other?
Well by transforming the data in sound (or noise) it is sometimes possible to find anomalies in a sound patter by simply listening.
There are many projects and softwares working on that task.
Recently I discovered a very interesting free web app: Twotone
It is very amazing.
It is possible to load data in the form of a .cvs, .ods or .xls file and make and to derive an mp3 file from them: fantastic.
But the very interesting feauture is that is possible to choose the sound of particular musical instrument with the faculty to control different parameters (number of octaves, ascending/descending scale and so on).

So, what did I do?
I loaded a simple file with the % variation of BTC value from 10 june 2020 to 10 may 2020 (yes the data I loaded are chronologically inverted as I wanted to test the App only) and if you are curious to listen the result you can follow this link.
Obviously the result would be different if I had chosen different parameters or a different musical instrument, but he would still have been curious.
