In this episode of Decentralized Recommendations, we present you a game - recently deployed on the NEAR Mainnet - that stands as a real estate simulator integrating blockchain, also very reminiscent of one of the most played board games. Any guesses?
We are talking about Pumpopoly!
What is Pumpopoly?
Pumpopoly is a virtual real estate simulator reminiscent of classic board games (think of Monopoly). Playable on all devices and featuring pixel art on an animated HTML5 canvas.
It is built on the NEAR blockchain protocol, so it is recommended to create an account (with its respective passphrase well kept) as the main-net game launch is live!
How to play?
Gameplay is simple. The players collect a salary from the treasury on every move. The players who park at player-owned land pay rent to the landlord (the one that own the land). Parking is free at all city-owned properties.
Currently, the game offers 5 types of unique properties. There are 256 pixel art variations for each property type, with 1024 variations each, which can be improved to increase profits.
The assets are the land plots, like the property squares in the Monopoly. Each type of property has a rental multiplier, which increases progressively as more players are invited, thus increasing your real estate.
What about the in-game economy?
There are two types of cryptocurrency tokens available within Pumpopoly: non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and PUMPOPOLY fungible tokens. Fungible tokens are issued from the game's smart contract. All purchases within the game are denominated in PUMPOPOLY fungible tokens.
Pumpopoly is designed to reward the player for sharing his/her/its invitation link. This allows to receive 50% from city land purchases, 10% from player property purchases and 50% from improvements built by the invitees. As we are aiming for, inviting players is the best way to earn tokens.
Getting more invites allows to build better structures.
As a measure of economic control, property's prices in Pumpopoly are increasing at an exponential rate. New properties always have a higher price. Thus, by selling properties in the game or exporting them to NFTs, profit can be made. As a Pumpopoly land owner, you will be able to claim "salary" from the treasury on time to time.
protip: that the more players you invite, the more often you can claim a salary = more often you can buy properties.
