Few relationships in modern football carry as much genuine affection as the one between Luka Modrić and Real Madrid. Even after a landmark 13-year stint at the Bernabéu, the Croatian maestro clearly hasn't closed that chapter of his life for good.
Speaking to *El Larguero* in a quote picked up by Fabrizio Romano, Modrić left the door wide open for a potential return to the Spanish capital, describing Madrid as his home and calling a future comeback a true dream.
"Of course I'd love that, Real Madrid is my home. I spent 13 years there," Modrić shared.
While the nostalgia is undeniable, Modrić isn't looking at a return purely through rose-tinted glasses. He emphasized that any future involvement would depend on finding the right role—and, crucially, on whether the club actually wants it.
"I'd be happy to help, but I have to prepare myself and see what role I could have and whether the club wants it," he added.
His comments show a pragmatic approach from a legend who understands that goodwill alone isn't enough; timing, preparation, and mutual interest have to align. Whether that future step means a coaching capacity, an ambassadorial role, or something within the front office remains to be seen.
