The Price of Your Smile
I would not trade your smile for treasures rare,
For all the riches scattered everywhere.
To make one lonely heart rejoice and sing—
O world, is there a greater, brighter thing?
If silver filled the rivers of the earth,
If gold and diamonds knew their endless worth,
Without your warmth, without your eyes' light,
They'd be but shadows fading into night.
They told me, “Let her go; let time erase
The tender memory of her face.”
I smiled and said, “How could I let her go,
When every breath still whispers her so?”
If every road that leads to you were fire,
I'd walk through flames and never once retire.
For one small step that brings me close to you
Is worth a thousand worlds I never knew.
I ask no crown, no kingdom, and no fame,
No golden throne, no glory, and no name.
Give me one moment standing by your side—
I'd trade a lifetime for that moment's light.
And if, one day, you're only memory,
I'll keep that memory as my destiny.
For even one sweet echo of your voice
Is worth a thousand tomorrows without choice.
The world may place a price on everything,
On love, on dreams, on every precious thing;
But love is not a treasure one can weigh—
Some things are worth the world, yet have no price to pay.
So let the whole wide world belong to gold,
Let kings keep all the riches they can hold.
I need but one thing, precious beyond compare:
Your smile.
And for that smile alone,
I'd give the world away.
