I want my world to overflow with love,
Yet who am I to hope that I could be beloved?
I want to rise from this strange and fragile earth,
To become a window opening toward the sky.
I seek no crown, no title, no throne,
I only wish to be a servant of love.
And if your love should set my soul on fire,
Let me burn within its sacred flame.
Let the winds of tenderness carry me away,
Until I find my peace within your breath.
What good is all the world if love is gone?
I came here only to let my heart be filled with it.
If my heart becomes your home, what sorrow could remain?
Let me be a ruin—if in you I can become whole.
I ask the universe for nothing but your gaze,
So that within the light of your eyes, I may finally belong.
For years I wandered, searching for who I was,
Until I learned that love is where the self is found.
I said, “I am,”
Then looked again—and found there was no “I”
When I surrendered to the ocean of love.
And then I heard what love was whispering:
“Let go of who you were,
And you will return to who you truly are.”
O Love, release me from the person I have been,
And let me become the newest version of myself.
Let every wall of pride collapse within me;
Let me stand before you without a name.
I thirst for only one drop from the ocean of your eyes—
One drop deep enough to make me thirst no more.
Wherever I wander, let your fragrance follow me;
Let every breath become a quiet remembrance of you.
And if distance should rise between our hearts,
Let the memory of your face become my home.
If longing keeps me awake through the night,
Let your name be the song that carries me into dawn.
I do not ask, my love, for riches or a throne,
Nor for a world that calls me powerful or great.
I only want the warmth of one sincere heart,
A heart that understands the sorrow of the world.
If I should ever cry,
Let my tears be born from wonder and joy,
And fall upon my face like flowers after rain.
If I should laugh,
Let my laughter become a remedy
For someone whose heart has grown tired.
Let my presence never become another person's wound;
Wherever I go, let me leave behind a little peace.
And if one day someone asks who I was,
Let them simply say:
“He was someone who chose love.”
I did not come into this world to create hatred.
I came to give what little love I carried.
And if the world should ever become empty of love,
Let me be one small drop of hope in its rain.
Let me be a window in this city of walls and doubt,
A window through which a weary heart can see the sky.
And when one day I leave this temporary home,
I hope something of me remains—
Not a monument,
Not a name carved into stone,
Not a story written in gold,
But only a fragrance of love
Lingering quietly in the hearts I touched.
And if they ask me then,
“Who were you?”
I will answer:
“I was only a little heart
That wanted to learn how to love.”
For this was all the art I ever knew:
To remain human,
Not merely alive.
To carry a heart filled with longing and doubt,
Yet still believe it might one day
Be worthy of the love of God.
And so, even now,
I ask for nothing more:
May my world overflow with love—
And though I am only human,
May I somehow become
Worthy of being loved.
