Brave Search is incoming folks! Which is good news because if you are on Publish0x then you have heard of Brave Browser. If you are following me then I hope you are using it. Brave browser was built by an old Firefox guy and it was built from Chromium. It is the worlds best privacy focused browser. For a while you have been able to pick what search engine you want to use in Brave. But now Brave will offer it's own homegrown open sourced Search Engine.

Guys this is huge news. I know it may not seem like really big news but right now Google Search has a 92% market share. Do you truly understand the data that Google is gathering off of what people search for? On top of that we all know how much better built in systems work then picking a 3rd party system. So Brave Search is bound to work better than say DuckDuckGo, with pure integration with Brave Browser.

The Brave team states 7 principles that apply to Brave Search:

1) Private - It will not track you or your profile

2) User-First - It is built for the user first and not bid data industries

3) Choice - There will be a ad-free paid option, or ad-supported search (think Brave Rewards type ads within Search)

4) Independent - They are going to build Search with anonymized contributions from the community

5) Transparent - They are not going to use secret methods or algorithms to alter the results per user

6) Seamless - This has to do with integration into Brave. Super excited for this.

7) Open - They will keep Search open source so that it can in turn power new other search engines.

Guys this is a huge announcement. One could argue that a company that doesn't innovate, dies. Actually I say that as well. What this acquisition does is a few things.

1st it shows how committed Brave is to bringing a safe and secure internet to it's users.

2nd it shows you that Brave isn't going anywhere and will only keep getting more and more market share

3rd it shows you that the Brave business model works. People are all in for getting paid for their time to view ads and obviously its working for the business as well.

4th there is a new index in town. If you have heard the story of early Google days. It was 2 dudes in college basically finding webpages online and putting them into a excel document that you could search through. Now over the years they have script to crawl the internet and find new pages and results and the database has grown immensely. Well with Brave Search they are creating their own new index that is not tied to any big data or big tech company. Which means it is truly free from the tiny grabby hands of Google and the like. Which means we are safer on the internet.
