Trust Betrayed!

Trust Betrayed!

So, I finally went and did it - bit the bullet - as they say, and almost immediately regretted it.

Long have I resisted the call of online crypto wallets because no single wallet offers the wide range of currencies that I am looking for. I refuse to have 100 wallets for 102 currencies and all of the messing about with seed phrases and logins etc. Call me a simple creature if you like. I just want to trade, hodl and stake, depending on market conditions at the time. You may recall me posting on it some time back. Then I don't want to be hit with umpteen gas fees that are disproportionate and continue to makes banks look attractive. More recently I posted about how I am collecting a lot of crypto-dust and particularly through DutchCorp AutoClaim (from now referred to as Dutchy for ease) and especially their coin of the month now that swaps are no longer available (I haven't checked the details but I think it was in response to MiCA).

Over time this dust has begun to build up and I had nowhere to put it and so I started looking around, in other words I started looking for a wallet. Dutchy make some helpful suggestions and I also dug around a bit before settling on Trust Wallet. In many ways FaucetPay would be the best but I am still unable to get past the recapture for some inexplicable reason.

And so I went ahead and set it all up, being careful to store my seed phrase carefully, as advised and then I went to move some dust - probably only adding up to +/-$1, so fortunately it was not a substantal amount. I set up the send addresses - taken from Trust - and entered them manually onto Dutchy and TRIPLE checked them. I always take this approach after a recent scare with Clipper Malware. One of the things I like about Dutchy is that the flag if the don't like the address and everything seemed to be fine and so I proceeded to press send. Dutchy reliably informed me that my crypto would be with me very soon (and often in seconds) and so I waited five minutes before opening my wallet.

Nothing!

I wasn't too concerned as Dutchy once took 24 hours to send some ETC directly to Coinbase (although that last time was much faster).

That was three days ago!

And still I am waiting, but must by now write it off as lost. Fortunately it was a relatively small and free amount. What happened may not have been on the side of Trust. Dutchy once lost 2USDC, which I sent as a single transaction to an address that I use all the time and have never had any other problems with. Just once, which is why I think it was on Dutchy's part. I use the same address for P0x for their USDC and have never encountered a single problem. So, all in all, it may not have been Trust - sorry to repeat myself - but given the levels of scepticism and irritability I feel about wallets in general, it has definitely made me even more cynical about them and less willing to bother again.

So maybe I will just collect endless dust on Dutchy for the Experience Points that level up - albeit very slowly - to increase income and hope that the coin of the month is one that I can utilise directly on Coinbase for example. Incidentally, on Dutchy, I only run the Auto-Faucet directly for those currencies that I can utilise directly, so the issue remains only with those that I can't and that is why it only affects the Coin of the Month.

I did also have a look at Talisman Wallet, but after getting through the initial set up it seemed that I couldn't actually do anything with it, which in the first incidence means receive currency.

Has anybody else had a similar experience?

As always stay safe and well my friends
