The Race: It's Going to be Closer Than I Thought!

This will almost certainly be the last update before the final closure of the race between Solana and LiteCoin. You might recall that the race is to see which one I can acquire a complete token of for each one. LiteCoin, being less better sourced had a 0.16 (LTC) head start before the race even began. I have stuck to the rules on the whole so not to favour one token over the other.

What I expected was, with it being better sourced (especially thanks to the P0x USDC which I am converting), for Solana to steadily close in and then overtake LiteCoin before leaving it in the dust.

Hence my comparison using the child's fable about the race between the tortoise and the hare

A few weeks ago, Solana did get its nose in front, but then to my surprise LiteCoin came straight back at it, but now once again Solana has taken the lead, but is seemingly streaking ahead.

However, this morning I did a couple of back of the envelope calculations (well in my head actually) and I have realised that actually it is going to be a very close call.

Two things have happened that might just change the balance back in favour of LiteCoin.

Firstly to make it a closer race to the tape I have decided to withdraw funds at the last moment from Cointiply rather than every time I have the minimum amount (to take advantage of the 5% APY that kicks in at 35,000 Cointiply Coins) and secondly I have recently started engaging in the Rain Pool for minimum effort which adds more to my daily acquirement. This virtually guarantees me the Daily Streak Bonus and between the two I have significantly (doubled) the number of daily coins I am getting. You might think this unfair because I wasn't doing it earlier but the fact is that it was always there - I just hadn't tapped into it, which I am now doing. I am getting about $0.08 per day currently. As I have already mentioned the Coin interest from >35,000 Coins may also help (this could offset Solana which is staking). Of course, this "wait" strategy could backfire if suddenly the LiteCoin price explodes.

I will be writing more about Cointiply tomorrow

In the background is the price difference which means the percentage is actually less costly in terms of fiat for LiteCoin and this too is playing in LiteCoin's favour. The ratio is more or less 3:2, which in simple terms means that for the same dollar value for which I get 0.03 LiteCoin I will get 0.02 Solana.

So down to my figures. I have 0.9 Solana and 0.85 LiteCoin and so Solana is clearly in the lead.

LiteCoin is currently (at the time of writing 7 August 2026) worth $46 and so if I have 0.85, the actual dollar value is $39.10, which means I only have $6.90 to go. Meanwhile the Solana, price is $74.00, which means I have $66.60, and to follow through as I did with LiteCoin this means I need another $7.40 to cross the line.

Now that is pretty close.

And my projections make everything very interesting unless a game changing trading opportunity comes up for whichever token.

Solana

I have just emptied my Dutchy of Solana so there will be little or nothing to draw on from that and I am currently holding 2 USDC on my Publish0x to be drawn on just before the close of August. This means in reality, based on today's figures that I only need another $4.40. I aim to get 5USDC a month to add to my Solana from Publish0x, so projections suggest the end of September (even if I might technically cross the line mid-September) as I will not change my withdrawal date - I am applying the same principle to LiteCoin. The staking is making almost no difference.

LiteCoin

Meanwhile, I currently have $0.63 on CoinPayU that will be converted to LiteCoin once it hits the minimum threshold of $1 and $2.50 on Cointiply and another $0.24 on Dutchy that I am just waiting for them to top up so I can draw on it. So, in total, I already have $3.37 or just under half of what I need. If I am adding $0.08 per day on Cointiply (whatever else is happening elsewhere) this means that the outstanding $3.57 to cross the line with LiteCoin will take another 45 days (or a few hours less strictly speaking)

So basically, it will all come together at the same time and especially if I withdraw from Cointiply at the same time as Publish0x on or around the 26 September.

I am therefore - and somewhat unexpectedly anticipating the final result to be a draw.

A trading opportunity or radical shift in prices could alter this and I will react according to market conditions. With Solana staking I will have to wait 5 days for it to become unstaked to take any kind of advantage of this. LiteCoin, unstaked is much freer, but I would have to look for an unlikely >15% surge in the price and then in the unlikely event of it happening for a correction to almost immediately follow, otherwise I will devastate my LiteCoin stockpile and it will be placed absolutely nowhere.

So there we have it. I have called it first here.

As always stay safe and well my friends
