Many of you who follow me know that almost two years ago I released my first novel, The Confession and I thought that it was high time that I shared a bit with you my community and my friends. I might do a bit of this over the next few days and include some excerpts from my second novel The Hard Road Back which was released just a few short weeks ago.
Just two little things:-
- A K Pasek is a pen name, so if you search on social media that is where you are likely to be directed.
- The novels are categorised as psychological erotica and while I have carefully chosen the parts I am sharing, so not to be "over-descriptive" nor containing any spoilers you need to be aware of this.
So here goes...
The mild winter had turned into glorious spring, but everything was changing.
It’s hard to pinpoint when but while I can’t put a specific date on it, everything started to change when Dominika reached a crucial point in her
studies. She was in the last few months of her MA in English philology and was working hard on both her exam revision and her final thesis which is about the Psychology of Classroom Management, a fitting subject match to her personality. Dominika is a perfectionist and any thought of slacking off or doing something that’s just good enough is totally incomprehensible to her…
She researched, checked her findings, researched again and confirmed her data before she finally wrote, revised, re-revised and redrafted again in an endless process as she looked for that perfect synergy of flawless prose underpinned by exhaustive research.
I’m sure you can see where this is going already, and if you’ve read my introduction it’s already patently obvious. So I won’t beat about the bush and get straight to the point…
Poor, neglected little Ania was feeling so sorry for herself and missing the attention that she was so used to getting, that she did something really stupid…
…and I mean really stupid!
But getting back to the beginning…
I was really interested in Dominika’s thesis, as I’m studying for the same degree, only I’m an academic year behind her. Next year it’ll be my turn. Getting
some insight into her perspectives on control also reflects on the nature of our BDSM relationship, in which I have relinquished all control to her.
It was immediately apparent that my interest was an unwanted distraction. She was very nice about it, in that she asked me to be quiet so she could
concentrate or she moved away.
At first this distance manifested itself physically, but it also become increasingly emotional. The end result was always the same. Maybe I was being a bit paranoid, but it seemed that she retreated into her own space almost every time I went anywhere near her.
Even taking a coffee to her while she was working became difficult, because she often said she was in the middle of writing a sentence that became lost
forever because I was distracting her. I still made her drinks and brought her sandwiches. Usually, I ended up just placing them wordlessly in front of her.
Dominika’s evening study sessions turned into long nights and her side of the bed was cold and unused. Night after night, light filtered in from the kitchen, where she was studying, seemingly selflessly, so I could sleep. The reality couldn’t have been more the opposite. Her absence was keeping me awake and I found myself staring at the chink of light creeping under the door until finally in a zombie-like state I would fall into a lonely sleep.
Generally, I had no idea what time she came to me, but from time to time I was vaguely aware of her climbing into bed next to me. At first, she would lay a gentle affirming arm around me, but with my responses dulled, I might sometimes mutter something barely audible. To begin with, we still made love
but it was sporadic and felt rushed and after some time even this, the slightest of physical contact stopped. Her life became an endless cycle of study and sleep.
I longed for her touch, but she wished only not to disturb my sleep...
