Grow up! We are not the same.

Grow up! We are not the same.

As I am getting older (and theoretically wiser) I have noticed and increasing tendency to try to equate humanity with flawed thinking. I am not being wokish or anti-wokish or whatever neologism they are going to come up with next week.

The core of the problem lies in the belief that sameness is an synonym of equality.

The fact is that we are not the same and I don't care how many people I offend with that statement. Truth is truth after all.

This does not cast aside our rights, but the truth is that an able-bodied person is different to a disabled person simply because of what they can and cannot do...

Let me stop there before you pick up stones to stone me. Anything, jobs, etc should be values, knowledge, experience and competence based whatever the individual's background, but at the same time we cannot expect a wheelchair bound user to exchange lightbulbs in a lighthouse. It is just not real.

More subtly, this relates to the recent articles I posted about the sexes because the fact is that men and women are different. The average woman is under constant pressure to perform or experience #metoo situations and have to carry the bulk of childcare responsibilities and for that reason she, more often than a man, is forced into compromise when it comes to balancing career and family. Does she take time off and fall behind on the ladder or does she opt not to have children or probably even worse come across as uncaring to them.

Unless we have experienced it ourselves do we know what it is like to face bigotry of any kind be it; mysogyny, misandry, racism or anti-religious posturing. And this is why we are different.

Yes we are equal, but we are not the same and the sooner the world embraces it, and celebrates it as the tapestry it truly represents the better we will be.

As always stay safe and well my friends.
